GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

For All Directors (does not apply to IT Manager or Staff Writer):                                            .

Description:
  • Ability to self-motivate- most of your work will be done on your own time with flexible hours.
  • Respond to organization-related emails and requests in a professional and timely fashion
  • Foster and maintain lasting community partnerships
  • Develop and executive quality assurance goals that reflect the mission and vision of our organization
  • Support long-term goals of the organization and ensure our vision is carried out
  • Oversee volunteers working with you on your projects
  • Communicate with other board members effectively and consistently
  • Be supportive, collaborative, and flexible
Additional time commitments:
  • Attend and actively participate in all Board meetings (to be held every other week, currently on Thursday evenings 7-8 pm)
  • Assist with all major special events and fundraisers (3-5 per year)
  • Help staff programs for adolescents at least twice per year

AVAILABLE BOARD OF DIRECTOR POSITIONS

Director of Operations

Description: The Director of Operations oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization. The DOO will oversee grant writing. The DOO will file reports in a timely and accurate manner. The DOO will assist the executive director with the management and operations of the organization. The DOO manages the Staff Writer and the Directors of Finances, Development, and Outreach.
Educational Requirements: Master’s degree obtained or in progress, or equivalent experience required.
Required Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge about mental health in adolescents. Demonstrated grant-writing ability.
Recommended Skills: Previous experience in a management position. Previous experience in non-profit work.
Time Commitment: 10 hours/week.

 

Director of Programming

Description: The Director of Programming will develop curriculums for mental wellness workshops for adolescents (past themes include mindfulness, authenticity, communication, relationships, etc.).  The DP will review scientific literature for evidence-based curriculums for prevention/early-intervention, emotion-regulation, coping skill development, and mental wellness in adolescents to guide all curriculum development. The DP will lead many of the programs for adolescents (which requires flexible hours, as some programs may be on weekends, in school, or after school). Though the DP will not lead all programs, the DP is responsible for scheduling volunteer leaders for all programs and overseeing the instruction and development of all programs.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree obtained or in progress, or equivalent experience required.
Required Skills: Teaching or group-leading experience. Some experience with mental health and/or mindfulness.
Recommended Skills: A degree in education, psychology, or a related field. Experience working with adolescents.
Time Commitment: 10 hours/week.

Director of Finances                                                                                                                        .

Description: The Director of Finances will create an annual budget, update financial documents, and keep detailed records of expenses, income, and in-kind donations. The DF will manage the bank account and reimburse individuals for approved organizational expenses. The DF will create special event budgets and monitor special event finances.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree obtained or in progress(preferably in business, economics, finance, or a related field), or equivalent experience required.
Required Skills: Bookkeeping experience.
Recommended Skills: Previous experience with non-profit finances.
Time Commitment: 5 hours/week.

Staff Writer

Description: The Staff Writer oversees our blog and newsletter, and writes press releases. The blog should be published weekly, and the staff writer is responsible for both writing some blogs (approximately 50%, or 2 per month) and soliciting guest bloggers. The staff writer is responsible for writing and soliciting newsletter content, which is sent out monthly via e-mail.Staff Writer will be responsible for taking minutes during bi-weekly Staff Meetings.The Staff Writer reports to the Director of Operations.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree obtained or in progress, or equivalent experience required.
Required Skills: Excellent written communication skills.
Recommended Skills: Knowledge about mental health in adolescents. Previous blog-writing or other professional-writing experience. Editing experience.
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours/week.
